Whippet Rescue
Nothing we do is more important than taking in Whippets in need. Often these dogs have become homeless through no fault of their own. Sometimes an owner dies or life circumstances change and suddenly, the life these dogs have known is changed forever.
Some of these dogs just break your heart, and then just as often, they will renew your faith and spirit. We have loved them all and feel lucky to have had them in our care, even for a short while on their way to their forever homes.
Here are some of our alumni from the past.

Sirius was one of those truly rare Whippets that one can call a real angel. She was a pleasure to foster! Quiet, well-behaved and sweet as can be, she went to a family in Rockville, Maryland, and now has a young girl to call her very own. Sirius loves children, so this was an important criteria for her.

Etta Louise didn't have a great start in life and needed a family who would love her little energetic self. At just over a year old, she needed room to run and some playmates. She found that with a couple living on acreage in Maryland along with two Greyhound buddies.

Xyla was found as a stray in Ohio, and no one came to claim her. This energetic young girl now lives in the lap of luxury with another Whippet, as well as a veterinarian and her boyfriend in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Nemo was a young, energetic boy in need of a playmate, a backyard to run in, and a home where he would get lots of love and attention and wouldn't be crated. He found that with a couple in New Jersey where he now has a Whippet brother.
Johnny was a young lad who just needed a home where there was another Whippet who could give this energetic boy a run for his money. He found that with a loving couple and a slightly older Whippet brother in Pennsylvania.

Jake was one of the original "Maryland 6" Whippets. For more details on their plight, please visit Daisy's page. Like the others, Jake was neglected for a long while. As an older fellow, he was in need of a couch to call his own and a family to love. He found that in a wonderful couple in northern Maryland who also have a Collie. Today, Jake has a stay-at-home Dad to spend lots of time with and a lovely fenced yard for outdoor romps.
Thank you for reading some of our Rescue stories. If you are interested in adopting a Rescue, you can submit an application
directly to me here.
Sometimes, but not always, we list our Rescues at the national Whippet Rescue site here: www.whippet-rescue.com. However, it's always best to contact me either directly by email or by submitting an application in case a Rescue isn't ready to be listed yet. The adoption process includes a home visit. Please contact me for all the details. And again, thank you for your interest!
