Whippet Rescue
Nothing we do is more important than taking in Whippets in need. Often these dogs have become homeless through no fault of their own. Sometimes an owner dies or life circumstances change and suddenly, the life these dogs have known is changed forever.
Some of these dogs just break your heart, and then just as often, they will renew your faith and spirit. We have loved them all and feel lucky to have had them in our care, even for a short while on their way to their forever homes.
Here are a few of our alumni from the past:
Johnny was a young lad who just needed a home where there was another Whippet who could give this energetic boy a run for his money. He found that with a loving couple and a slightly older Whippet brother in Pennsylvania.

Shelby was terribly lonely in her former home and needed the companionship of another dog to feel safe and secure. Her former owners weren't in a position to get another dog and could see that she was suffering. Today, she lives in Virginia with a couple who love her dearly, and she has the companionship of a Rhodesian Ridgeback sister.

Jake was one of the original "Maryland 6" Whippets. For more details on their plight, please visit Daisy's page. Like the others, Jake was neglected for a long while. As an older fellow, he was in need of a couch to call his own and a family to love. He found that in a wonderful couple in northern Maryland who also have a Collie. Today, Jake has a stay-at-home Dad to spend lots of time with and a lovely fenced yard for outdoor romps.
Panda came into Rescue with his father, Flash. Their owner had given them the best of care, but she died after a long battle with cancer. Today, Panda lives in Pennsylvania with a retired couple and a cat and has lots of room to run and play. He also has become a certified service dog.
Thank you for reading some of our Rescue stories. If you are interested in adopting a Rescue, you can submit an application
directly to me here.
Sometimes, but not always, we list our Rescues at the national Whippet Rescue site here: www.whippet-rescue.com. However, it's always best to contact me either directly by email or by submitting an application in case a Rescue isn't ready to be listed yet. The adoption process includes a home visit. Please contact me for all the details. And again, thank you for your interest!
